Beatriz Gama Marques

Beatriz Gama Marques (born in 2000) is a Portuguese flutist whose artistic path bridges orchestral performance, chamber music, contemporary creation, and interdisciplinary projects. She is currently based in Lugano, where she is pursuing a Master of Arts in Music Performance under the guidance of renowned flutist Andrea Oliva.

She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Performance for Orchestra at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra – Orquestra Metropolitana, studying with Nuno Inácio , after receiving her professional musical training at the Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional with João Pereira Coutinho . In parallel, she developed academic interests beyond performance, completing a postgraduate degree in Culture Communication in the Creative Industries at NOVA FCSH and an A1 German semester at the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Arts .

As an orchestral and ensemble musician, Beatriz has performed with institutions such as Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Metropolitan Academic Orchestra, Lusitanus Ensemble, Sond’Arte Electric Ensemble, and Orquestra Sinfónica de Loures . Her performance experience has brought her to stages including the Centro Cultural de Belém, Aula Magna, Palácio Marquês de Fronteira, Estúdios Victor Córdon, Fundação Casa Mateus, and international venues in Wolfenbüttel, Hannover, and Berlin through the Epoche F – Ensemble Modern program .

A versatile chamber musician, she has appeared in flute duo and wind quintet formations, presented solo recitals in Lisbon, and participated in interdisciplinary artistic events. Notable appearances include concerts at Quinta da Regaleira, Nazaré Cultural Center, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, and contributions to the Composers, Actors and Plastic Artists’ Week through a collaborative performative piece . She also took part in the pre-elimination round of the Prémios Jovens Músicos in chamber music (2023) .

Her artistic growth has been shaped by masterclasses with flutists such as Silvia Careddu, Robert Winn, Adriana Ferreira, Philippe Bernold, Natalie Schwaabe, Vicens Prats, Nuno Inácio, Sophia Neugebauer, and by her participation as listener in Flautissimo (2019) .

Beatriz’s distinctions include being a finalist in the Yamaha Young Artist competition (2022) and receiving an Honorable Mention at Verão Clássico with Silvia Careddu (2021) .

Her artistic curiosity extends to creative writing and ceramics, and she has participated in volunteer initiatives such as Sorrisos d’Arte, which promotes social engagement through artistic practice .

Rooted in a deep commitment to expression and collaboration, Beatriz continues to shape her musical identity through performance, contemporary creation, and cultural dialogue.
