Botond Farkas

Botond Farkas was born in Budapest in 2004, and began his musical studies at the age of ten in Szentgotthárd, under the guidance of his first teacher, Anita Herczeg. In 2015, he won first prize at the Pannon International Piano Competition in Slovenia. From 2016, he continued his musical studies at the Béla Bartók School of Music in Szombathely, where he was taught for two years by Éva Kardos. During this time, he won three prizes at the Sistrum Music Competitions: in 2016 and 2017, he won first prize in his category, and in 2018, the jury awarded him the competition's Grand Prize. Since September 2018, he has continued to develop his artistic talent as a student at the Higher School of Arts in Szombathely. In 2021, he won first prize at the Sergei Rachmaninov International Online Piano Competition, and in the same year, also won the Polish Online Piano Competition, organized during the pandemic. He is currently a student at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, in the class of András Kemenes. His recent international successes include winning the Vítězslav Novák Piano Competition in the Czech Republic in 2023, where he received in addition to first prize, a special jury prize. In 2024, he performed two solo recitals at the Young Prague Festival, receiving great acclaim from both audiences and critics in the Czech capital. He performed two times at the Collegium Hungaricum in Roma, chamber recital in 2025, and solo recital in 2026.
