Chanya Bayla Somboonvechakarn
Born in 2012, Bayla embarked on her musical journey at the age of three. She is currently a year 9 student in Bangkok Patana School and have hold Diploma LTCL in Piano Performance from Trinity College London. Currently, she is under tutelage of Prof. Armen Babakhanian. As Laureates and Grand Prize winners from many international competitions and festivals, Bayla has had the opportunity to perform at numerous prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, such as Nice, Rome, Budapest, Perugia, Moscow, Osaka, Hamamatsu, Hongkong, New York, Singapore, Jakarta, and Bangkok. She performed twice in Carnegie Hall at the age of 5 as First Prize winner and Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize winner from Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition 2017 and AADGT Young Gifted Musicians Festival “Passion of Music 2018”. In July 2024, Bayla won the Grand Prize across all age categories and received cash prize of EUR 400 from The VII International Liszt Ferenc Competition in Budapest, Hungary. She also won the Grand Prize in the 5th Singapore International Classical Piano Competition 2023, receiving cash prize of SGD800. Other awards includes: First and Special Prize of 2nd Concours International Junior Samson Francois in France; First Prize at XIII Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition (14 years and under) (Ukraine, 2021); XI Piano Talents Competition (Milan, Italy, 2021); VI Marbella International Music Competition 2021 - Rising Stars Category Division A (Spain, 2021); VII Windsor International Piano Competition (UK, 2021); Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition - Autumn 2021 organized by Consulate General of The Republic of Poland in Hongkong, in category Piano Solo Junior Group D and Concerto Junior. Bayla is also the First Prize Winner of The 5th Steinway Youth Piano Competition Thailand 2020 and received “Best Sonatina” award. She received Special Young Talent Prize award from 2020 Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition, as well as First prize winner of The 20th Osaka International Music Competition (Osaka, 2019) and Second Prize at The 23rd Japan Piara Piano Competition, Hamamatsu, Japan. At the age of 6, Bayla made her first orchestral debut as a soloist with Sunrise String Orchestra performing Berkovich piano concerto at Chulalongkorn University Music Hall, Thailand. She was the youngest kid to ever perform as soloist with an orchestra in Thailand. In December 2019, Bayla was selected to perform as Guest pianist at The International Philharmonic Children of Future Concerts in Moscow with the presence of the Thai Ambassador; organized by Children Philharmonic Society and partnered by NEWSMUZ.com, Russia News and ORPHEUS9.2FM. In June 2022, she performed Mozart concerto with Bangkok Charity Orchestra for a charity project.
