Claire Bokyun Kim

Claire Kim is a 14-year-old violist in 9th grade, who began her musical journey in second grade. Over the past seven years, Claire has served as the principal violist in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO), and for the past two years, she has participated in the Maryland All-State ensembles, the MCPS Junior Honors Ensembles. In the summer of 2024, Claire was invited to attend the Douro Strings Academy Music Festival in Portugal. Her talent has earned her recognition on international stages, where her quartet won first place at both the Charleston International Music Competition and the American Virtuoso International Music Competition. In 2024, she performed as a soloist and with her quartet at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York. Beyond her musical achievements, Claire is passionate about using music to inspire others. She actively participates in the Young Musicians Inspiring Change (YMIC) and the Tacy Foundation, where she brings music to her community through performances and outreach.
