Danylo Semenyuk

Danylo Semenyuk was born in 2011 in Ukraine and began studying the cello at the age of seven. Since 2022 he has continued his musical education in Germany and is currently a young student in the class of Prof. Grigory Alumyan at the University of Music and Dance Cologne. Since 2026 he has also been a scholarship holder in the programme for highly gifted young musicians at the Music Academy in Liechtenstein, where he regularly participates in intensive study weeks. Danylo has received important artistic inspiration from masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Maria Kliegel, Steven Isserlis, Ramón Jaffé, Gary Hoffman, Ivan Monighetti, and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, and has also taken part in projects at the Kronberg Academy. Danylo is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions. In 2026 he received the First Great Award at the Vienna International Music Competition and was awarded the loan of an exceptional cello by C.F. Gand (Paris, 1842) at the 33rd Competition of the German Musical Instruments Fund in Lübeck. His awards include also the Grand Prix at the International Strings & Chamber Music Competition in Bucharest, several First Prizes at the German National Competition “Jugend musiziert”, special prizes at the Mendelssohn Competition and the Beethoven Bonnensis Competition, as well as the Werner Stiefel Prize at the Carl Flesch Academy. As a soloist, Danylo has performed with orchestras including the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Geringas Chamber Orchestra, and the Bonn Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is also actively engages in chamber music and composition.
