Duo Medhelan

Doriano Di Domenico was born in 1998. He started playing violin when he was 7, and after his first soloist concerto at 11 he started an intense concertistic activity also in chamber music and with orchestras, that brought him throughout the most important theaters in Italy and abroad, too (Città del Vaticano, Switzerland, France, Slovenia, USA). He attended Master of Arts in Music Performance at Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano with M°Pavel Berman and, lover of the innumerable aspects of musical teaching, he attendend the Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy in the same conservatoire. His didactic thesis has been chosen as one of the best thesis of the year and selected to be publicated by “Libreria Italiana Musicale” on the “Quaderni del Conservatorio” magazine. Also he was recently invited to present his work in Freiburg (Switzerland) at “Recontre Romandes de Recerche en Education Musicale” convention. Meanwhile, he attended masterclasses in Italy, Austria and Bulgaria. Eclectic personality, he loves exploring different repertoires from reinessance music, to baroque, to jazz, to contemporary, also experimenting in composition and collaborating with singers and actors. The last interest is the dimension of the viola: actually he started attending the master in viola with M° Luca Ranieri in Novara at “G.Cantelli” Conservatory

Matteo Generani is an Italian pianist, collaborator, and educator. He is the winner of both national and international competitions including the 2018 Solo piano competition “Villa Oliva” in Italy, the 2019 White Lake Young Artist Solo Performance in Michigan, and the 2020 Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.

As a performer, he plays concerts in Europe and the US with a vast repertoire spanning from Frescobaldi to contemporary composers. In May 2020 he recorded the complete set of Etudes Op. 23 by the contemporary Italian composer Giovanni Albini. Matteo is currently recording a CD on Martucci piano music. In conjunction with performing, Matteo Generani is also passionate about teaching. He is currently one of the piano faculty at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) Conservatory Academy.

Matteo Generani is also interested in outreach initiatives. He actively participated in the "Classical Music Express," and “Music for All,” two outreach programs that brings exposure of world-class classical music performances to populations who would otherwise not have access to such.

Matteo is a member of the Neo-Art Piano duo with Indonesian Pianist Regina Tanujaya, a piano duo that was recently invited to perform in Florida as guest musicians of the 2023 Emerald Coast Music Alliance Festival.

Matteo Generani earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Conservatory of Pavia, in Italy, received Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Central Michigan University, and is currently pursuing Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City under the guidance of Mr. Alon Goldstein.

The Medhelan duo bio. Classmates at the Pavia Conservatory “Franco Vittadini”. A shared passion for theoric classes such as counterpoint, harmony and music history. Long talks on music. Connection: we immediately realized how similar our musical perception was, and how similar was our love for music. First explorations in between conservatory classes, sight-reading Beethoven and Mozart's violin and piano sonatas. So, first experiences, like the Lu concert for the “Monferrato Music Festival” and the Malpensa “Flying Notes” in 2018. These are the ingredients that gave birth in 2022 to Medhlean Duo. The name was born after the original celtic name of the city of Milan, the city around where our collaboration grew up. The biggest achievement we got since the creation of our name was the invitation to perform in Brussels following the victory of the 2023 “Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition”.
