George Fisher

George Fisher is a rising composer from the Twin Cities area. George’s most recent works include Beyond the Meadows, a tone poem for orchestra and choir, Evening Glory, a bold piece for concert band, and Within the Bazaar!, a vibrant mixed sextet.

In addition to composition, George’s musical career extends to a variety of instruments, including clarinet, saxophone, and piano. George is a senior at Maple Grove Senior High School in Maple Grove, Minnesota, but takes all of his coursework at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Here, he is a member of the clarinet program, gospel choir, and West African music ensemble. George also studies composition at the MacPhail Center for Music.

Outside of composing and the many groups he is involved in, George is a cross-country runner and downhill skier. He enjoys contributing to his community by playing clarinet at local memory care facilities, is a counselor at Camp Olson YMCA and a strategy board game teacher at Minneapolis's West Suburban Summer School.
