Hayk Gurgenyan

Hayk Gurgenyan was born in 2000 in Yerevan, Armenia. He starts his musical education and first trumpet lessons in musical school after Sayat-Nova. A few years later he went to musical school after Alexander Spendiaryan with David Onipchenko. In 2013 he participated in 5th International Competition "Revival" and got 2nd price. Two years later got 1st price in the same competition. During studying years in Armenia he participated in many other festivals and competitions. He had masterclasses with Sergei Nakariakov in 2015 and 2018. In 2015 participated in masterclasses and competitions in the cities Marseille and Paris in France, in the framework of the competition "MUSIC ANYDAY" called European final. In 2019 he got 1st price in the 10th International Competition for Trumpet Players in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. In 2021 May, got 1st price in the 19th international competition Les Etoiles de Paris. June 15-20 got 1st price in the WoodwindBrassPremium-2021 1st International Competition for Brass Instrumentalists in Belarus, Minsk. In 2021 Hayk completed his bachelor's degree at Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas in the class of Armen Mailyan. While studying in (YSC) he had a position in Armenian State Symphony Orchestra as a Trumpeter, Soloist from 2017 to 2021. In 2019 Hayk has performed Alexander Arutiunian's famous Trumpet Concerto with same orchestra in Aram Khachaturian's hall in Yerevan. During those years Hayk was also a part of many great Projects and concerts around the world with (ASSO). One of Which was "The European tour" under the lead of the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan and the renowned violin virtuoso and the orchestra’s 2019/2020 artist-in-residence Maxim Vengerov.The 8 concerts performed in Philharmonie Gasteig (Munich), Grosses Festspielhaus (Salzburg), Liederhalle (Stuttgart), Berliner Philharmoniker (Berlin), Barbican Center (London), Musikverein (Vienna), Dvorak Hall (Prague), Zaryadye Concert Hall (Moscow) garnered acclamations of both European audiences and music critics and media alike that covered the tour. In 2022 recorded his first CD album "Armenian Composers Music For Trumpet" which includes works of Armenian composers written for Trumpet and Piano, is dedicated to 100th anniversary of Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas. In 2024 have been accepted as an Intern in Berner Symphonieorchester. Nowadays he is studying in Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) for Master's Degree in class of Prof. Laurent Tinguely.
