Hee Kang

Hee Kang, a soprano from South Korea, is an artist who has built a steady career through her passion for classical singing and consistent effort. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Classical Vocal Music at Dongduk Women’s University in Seoul in 2018, where she studied under Professor Hee-jeong Seo and graduated as the top performer in her field, Kang won 1st Prize in the Graduate Opera Aria Division at the Korea-China International Music Competition in 2019. She later completed her Master’s degree in 2020. In 2021, Kang moved to the Czech Republic and began studying singing with soprano Helena Kaupová. From 2022, Kang started studying at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU) with soprano Natalija Melnik. In 2024, Kang completed her Master’s degree at HAMU, during which she performed the role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro as part of a school opera production. Kang’s international experiences include participating in masterclasses with Maestro Martin Sieghart, who praised her for singing “like an angel,” as well as with Maestro Antonello Allemandi in Florence, where she worked on the role of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and with Franz Hawlata in Prague, further expanding her musical breadth. In 2023, she performed at the Musica Riva Festival in Riva del Garda, Italy, as part of Mietta Sighele’s masterclass, and attended an Italian Renaissance Choral Workshop in Florence, where she had the opportunity to perform in historic cathedrals, connecting with Italy’s rich cultural heritage. In addition, she led the Prague Korean Choir as a conductor, broadening her experience and deepening her understanding of choral music. Kang has participated in notable performances, including a concert in October 2024 in Prague, where she performed La jolie rousse, a contemporary piece by Czech composer Jan Klusák, as part of the "From Homeland" concert organized by HAMU. She also had the honor of performing in front of President Yoon of South Korea during his official visit to the Czech Republic in 2024. Throughout these years, Kang has performed at prestigious venues such as Rudolfinum and Obecní dům (Municipal House) in Prague. She has also sung in historic locations such as the Emauzy Cloister and St. Simon and Jude Church. In 2024, Kang received a Special Prize at the Gabriela Beňačková International Vocal Competition, earning an invitation to perform at the Petr Dvorský Music Festival in 2025. With a growing and diverse repertoire, spanning from Renaissance choral music to operatic works, Kang continues to diligently study and expand her artistry.
