Ho Youn Jo

Ho Youn Jo was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1996. At the age of 7, he began playing the cello. From 2013 to 2015, he attended Kaywon High School of Arts under the guidance of Prof. Sangmin Park. In 2016, he started his studies at the Korea National University of Arts with Professors Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Hyoungwon Chang, and Kangho Lee. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in 2022.

In 2023, he came to Germany and began studying for his Master’s degree at the Lübeck University of Music under the tutelage of Prof. Troels Svane. Ho Youn has won several prizes in national competitions, including the Sungjeong Competition (1st Prize), Eumyeon Competition (1st Prize), and KCO Competition (1st Prize).

In 2019, he performed in an exchange concert at Indiana University, and in 2021, he gave solo recitals in Seoul as a Young Artist with the Kumho Foundation. He has also Solo performed with the Capella Istropolitana in Bratislava, Slovakia, and participated in masterclasses with Prof. Wen-Sinn Yang, Prof. Li-Wei Qin, Prof. Peter Sumpf, Jian Wang, and Prof. Laurence Lesser.

He has also performed various concerts as a symphony orchestra player with ensembles such as Confero Camerata and Ad Musika. Additionally, he served as the principal cellist with the MHL Orchestra and 2024-2025 perform as a member of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Orchester Academy.
