Howl Vlad Maciuca, from San Mateo, California, is 9 years old. He started learning piano at age 5. He started training seriously when he turned 7 with Dr. Jenny Chai from UC Berkeley. Shortly after, he achieved two First Prizes at Golden Classical Music Awards and Elite International Music Competition and was invited to the Winner’s Concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. He also received the First Prize awarded to the 8 year-old category from Charleston International Music Competition for European Music. Recently in 2021, Howl won the First Prize+Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize from Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition and was invited to perform at the Salitar, Mozarteum in Salzburg. He also won Golden Star from Music and Stars International Competition, Golden Hands (as well as best performances in Chopin and Schumann) from Carles and Sofia International Piano Competition, both First Prize and Best Performance in a Romantic Piece from Great Masters international piano competition, and First Prize from the U.S. New Start Etude Piano Competition. From practicing basic techniques to performing artistic styles, Howl grew his passion for music strong. He practices about one and half hours per day. He enjoys listening to all kinds of classical music and modern music. Some of his favorites are Mozart, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Bach. Besides piano, Howl enjoys reading, Rubik’s cube, and programming. He hopes when he grows up, he will be a Roblox developer and integrate music and literature into his games.
