Jacob Gröper

Born in Bremen, Jacob Gröper grew up in a musical family and decided at an early age to pursue music through the piano. Prior to his university studies, he also received instruction in trumpet, organ, and harpsichord, alongside comprehensive training in music theory and ear training. In 2021, he was admitted to the conducting class of Prof. Scott Sandmeier at the University of Music Freiburg. During his studies, he had numerous opportunities to collaborate with various regional orchestras, including the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra. He is continuing his master's studies in 2025 in the conducting class of Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg. There, too, he enjoys many opportunities and works regularly with the Hamburg and Lüneburg Symphony Orchestras. Gröper has also received guidance from Prof. Ekhart Wycek (Weimar), Prof. Rüdiger Bohn (Düsseldorf), and Omer Meir Wellber (General Music Director of the Hamburg State Opera). Over time, the young conductor has built a substantial repertoire spanning both musical theater and symphonic music. In addition to regular symphonic engagements, his work in the 2025/2026 seasons alone includes conducting Puccini’s *La Bohème*, Mozart’s *Don Giovanni*, Britten’s *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* and *The Turn of the Screw*, as well as various world premieres. A recent highlight was conducting Mozart’s *The Magic Flute* with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, for the past five years, he has assisted his former professor, Scott Sandmeier, at the annual "Festival de Gensac," where he also has the opportunity to work with the "Orchestre de chambre de la Gironde."
