James C. Teti

James C. Teti is a composer, vocalist, and conductor from Princeton, New Jersey, currently studying composition and voice at Interlochen Arts Academy. His works include LULLABY, commissioned for a children’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Traverse City’s Old Town Playhouse Children’s Theatre and numerous works of vocal, chamber, and dramatic compositions. His compositional focus is on writing music that is meaningful and engaging for both performers and audiences, grounded in the belief that art expresses deeper truths of human experience — sacred or secular. James has performed in the chorus for Fauré’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall, and is a developing tenor. He also sang in the Princeton Boychoir with Micheal Bublé in his 2021 television special Christmas in the City. He sang in the world premiere of William C. Banfield’s opera Edmonia at Interlochen and later performed the role of King Balthazar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. In Spring 2025, he partially reprised the role of Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. He has also partially reprised the role of Le Roi in Massenet’s Cendrillon in 2026. He is also a sought after conductor of student works, with conducting experience on the stage and in the recording studio. He attended the Boston Conservatory at Berklee High School Composition Intensive in Summer 2025, and will attend the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Composers Camp this summer. His chamber opera Enea, an American tragedy taking place at Ellis Island was premiered by Interlochen Opera Theatre in the spring of 2026 and will be fully staged by them this coming fall.
