Jeffrey Shield

Jeffrey Shield is an 11-year-old pianist from Perth, Western Australia. He demonstrates musical maturity and has won many prizes in local and international piano competitions at a very young age. Jeffrey began learning the piano at the age of six with Dr. Dobromila Jaskot. He passed his first diploma-level piano examination with distinction at the age of nine. By the age of ten, he had achieved both the ATCL and LTCL Diplomas in Piano Performance with Distinction from Trinity College London, placing him among the youngest pianists in Australia to reach this level. Currently, Jeffrey is studying at the FTCL (Fellowship Diploma) level with Ivy Chan at the Yoon Sen Lee Music School. By age 11, Jeffrey had received more than 70 prizes and awards in local and international piano competitions, demonstrating consistent excellence and artistic depth. Some highlighted prizes include Grand Prix at the International Paderewski Piano Competition for Children and Youth Poland (2024), 4th Prize at 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth Poland (2024), 1st Prize at WPTA International Piano Competition Spain (2024), 1st Prize at Orbetello International Online Piano Competition Italy (2025), 1st Prize at Open Piano Concerto and West Australian Pianist of the Year at the West Australian Pianists Competition (2025), 1st Prize at Open Championship Solo at the North of Perth Music Festival (2025), 1st Prize at Professor Geoffrey Lancaster Open Championship (2025) and 1st Prize at Concerti at the Fremantle Eisteddfod (2025). Jeffrey is an experienced performer, having appeared in over 100 public concerts. Some orchestral and solo highlights include the debut of Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Modena conducted by Maestro Matteo Parmeggiani in Bologna and Modena (December 2025), Poland solo concert tours in Warsaw-Torun and International Chopin Competition for Children and Youth Winners’ concert Szafarnia Poland (May 2024), Featured soloist at the WAGSMS Concert for over 2,000 audiences in Crown Theatre in Perth, Australia (May 2023) and Piano Performance for Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Australia (March 2022). In November 2025, Jeffrey took part in filming and interviews for the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition’s 50th Anniversary Documentary at the historic Steinway & Sons factory and showroom in Hamburg, Germany. In June 2025, Jeffrey was featured in an onstage interview at the West Australian Pianists Competition award ceremony, filmed in the Richard Gill Auditorium at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. In addition to his competitive and performance success, Jeffrey has developed a strong public following. His YouTube channel has over 15,000 subscribers and 3 million channel views, engaging audiences worldwide through his official website and active Facebook and Instagram accounts. Alongside his musical studies, Jeffrey is a dedicated and high-achieving pianist who values a balanced lifestyle. Jeffrey loves travelling, exploring nature, cycling, walking, and spending time with family. In his free time, Jeffrey enjoys solving Rubik's cubes, playing chess and is an enthusiastic reader.
