Jiayu is a talented percussionist dedicated to explore contemporary percussion music with her unique sensitivity and deep passion. She is particularly devoted to playing the marimba, as she believes it is an instrument that can create numerous possibilities. She hopes to capture the audience's interest and showcase unique performances with it. Jiayu co-founded the AMSwave Trio and performed in Beijing and Tsingdao,China. She is also a member of 639 marimba duo. Born and raised in Beijing,China. Jiayu started to learn percussion at the age of 6. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and continues her master studies at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.Throughout her education in Amsterdam and Boston, She studied with Nancy Zeltsman, Rachel Xi Zhang, Laurent Warnier, Ramon Lormans, Arnold Marinissen, Nick Woud, Bence Major, Mark Braafhart, Marijn Korff de Gidts and Richard Jansen. Achievements During her studies, she won international competitions: 1st prize marimba solo, Youth international Tuned Percussionist of the year 2018 (UK); 1st prize snare drum solo and 2nd prize marimba solo in the 3rd IPEA percussion competition of the year 2018 (Shanghai, China); 1st prize marimba solo in the 2nd PAS International percussion competition of the year 2018(Beijing); 3rd prize at the 2021 PSM Opole International Marimba Competition and more. She was the finalist of the 7th World Marimba Competition Stuttgart, candidate of 2022 TROMP International Percussion Competition.
