Katharina Auer

Katharina Auer, born 2002 in Linz/Austria, began her violin studies at the age of five. She made her debut as a soloist aged thirteen performing Mozart's violin concerto No. 1 (KV 207). At the age of sixteen she entered the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where she is currently studying with Christian Altenburger. Additionally Katharina has attended masterclasses held by acclaimed violinists such as Ingolf Turban, Petru Munteanu, Benjamin Schmid, Ernst Kovacic, Tanja Becker-Bender, Krzysztof Wegrzyn and Yair Kless. Katharina performed as a soloist with Jenaer Philharmonie, Brno Philharmonic, Sofia Sinfonietta, Webern Sinfonietta, Franz Schmidt Kammerorchester, Orchester der Bühne Baden as well as KünstlerOrchester Wien/Lilienfeld and collaborated with eminent conductors such as Markus L. Frank, Miloš Machek, Georgi Dimitrov, Vladimir Kiradijev, Nicolas Radulescu, Bruno Weil and Karen De Pastel. She appeared at renowned international festivals such as Brno Mozart Festival, Hohenloher Kultursommer, Chamber Music Festival Plovdiv, Piano Festival Treviso, Festival Internacional de Música Tenerife, Allegro Vivo Festival Austria, Konzertreihe Arpeggione Hohenems, Musikfestival Stift Lilienfeld and Festival Grafenegg. Further engagements and recitals took her to prestigious venues like Musikverein Wien, Wiener Konzerthaus, Solitär Salzburg, Weimarhalle, Carmen Würth Forum, Konzerthaus Blaibach, Auditorium Zanon Udine, Concert Hall Henry Wieniawski Poznań and Besedni dum Brno. Besides performing as a soloist Katharina is also a devoted chamber musician in various chamber ensembles (string duo, piano trio, string quartet, piano quartet, string quintet and string sextet). In October 2017 she participated in the chamber music project „Mit Musik Miteinander“ at the prestigious Kronberg Academy/Germany. A very enriching experience was Katharina’s performance in the Auditorium Grafenegg at the age of fourteen sharing the stage with the renowned star pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. Katharina has won numerous national and international awards (among others): multiple 1st prizes at the Austrian Youth Competition “Prima la Musica”; Laureate of Musica Juventutis; 1st prize at Váša Příhoda International Violin Competition České Budějovice; 3rd prize at Georg Philipp Telemann International Violin Competition Poznań; 1st prize at International String Competition of Bohdan Warchal Dolný Kubín; 1st prize and special prizes at Josef Sivó International Violin Competition; 3rd prize at International Violin Competition Kloster Schöntal; 1st prize at Stefanie Hohl Violin Competition Vienna; 2nd Prize at Luigi Zanuccoli International Violin Competition and 2nd Prize at Agustín Aponte Concurso Internacional de Violin Spain (1st prize not awarded). Katharina has not only appeared on stage in her home country Austria but also in Italy, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Germany and Croatia. She plays a master violin by the famous Italian luthier Michele Dobner (dated 2004, Cremona).
