Ke Xu

Ke Xu was born in 1997 in Lanxi, Zhejiang Province (China). She began playing the piano at the age of five. She initially studied at the affiliated middle school of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music under Professors Yankai Yang and Minghui Li.

Since July 2015, Ke Xu has been living in Germany. In 2020, she completed her bachelor’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in the class of Professor Alfonso Gómez. She went on to complete her master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in the piano class of Professor Dr. Florence Millet. Currently, Ke Xu is pursuing a Konzertexamen (piano performance diploma) at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz under Professor Sae-Nal Lea Kim, and a Master’s in Liedgestaltung (song interpretation) at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Professor Stefan Irmer.

Ke Xu is a prizewinner of national and international competitions. In 2015, she won third prize at the 6th International Piano Competition “Città di Caraglio” in Italy, which led to a solo performance at Schloss Obernzell the following year. In January 2023, she won second prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work at the 2nd Piano Competition of the HfM Mainz.

A month later, she was awarded first prize at the Steinway Sponsorship Award in Frankfurt.

In July, she received the Cultural Promotion Prize 2023 from the Rotary Club Mainz-Churmeyntz.

Ke Xu has participated in numerous music festivals and concert projects, including the “8 Brücken Festival” (Cologne) and the “ECHO Project: ECHI da Montepulciano” (Italy). She has received artistic inspiration from Bernd Goetzke, Ulrich Schwarz, Fabian Müller, Fabio Bidini, and Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Konrad Elser and Pierre Laurent Aimard
