Klara Avšič

Cellist Klara Avšič was born in July 2005 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In June 2025 she graduated with honors from Bachelor's degree at the Musik und kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien in the class of Professor Lilia Schulz-Bayrova, where she now started her Master's studies.

Previously she completed her Bachelor studies in class of Professor and Soloist Monika Leskovar at the Academy of Music Zagreb.

She started playing the cello at the age of four, and was taught by her uncle, violoncello Professor.

At the age of ten, she became a student of Professor Jaka Stadler, who was Professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. She performed at all student concerts, was a prizewinner of several competitions and had her own solo recital at the end of each year.

She also had a audition with Prof. Reinhard Latzko, who described her playing as extremely well developed and full of potential.

At the age of fifteen, she took the entrance exam to the Academy of Music in Zagreb and was accepted as the youngest candidate for a full-time study in the class of Prof. Monika Leskovar. She also received the Rector's Award from the University of Zagreb.

Violinist, conductor and Professor Gerhard Schulz also recognized her talent and was impressed by her playing.

She had also a very successful masterclass with Professor Peter Bruns.

Klara Avšič successfully passed the entrance exam to Professor David Geringas class at the Chigiana summer academy where she has been receiving additional education already for two years. Professor Geringas assessed her as an outstanding technical talent and promising young cellist with an always convincing performance.

She have already played solo with the Orchestra at several important concerts. In January 2024, she performed at three Abonma concerts with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra Vivaldi's Four Seasons in her new arrangement for cello, as one of the youngest soloists in the history of the Slovenian Philharmonic.

She was accepted also to Materclass of Professor Wolfgang Emanuel-Schmidt in Berlin. Professor Schmid said about her, that in additional to technical precision, she has an extensive sense for deep playing full of expression, his opinion is that she have something extremely special in her playing that you find very rarely.

In October 2024, she was invited, to play together with her sister, violinist Patricija Avšič, who study in class of Professor Boris Kuschnir and with who they moved together to Vienna for studying. They played Duo-Sonatine by Friedricks Wildgans at the 100 years Jubiläumskonzert of Radio in Austria. The concert was live streamed to ORF and this is how Avšič sisters made first recording of this piece ever.

In July 2025, she performed twice as an Honored soloist with the Haydn Symphony Orchestra Vienna and conductor Jin Wang, playing Haydn's Cello Concerto in D major at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria.

She has been invited to play on Masterclass of Soloist Steven Isserlis in October 2025.

In December 2025, she was invited by Jeunesse Austria to perform again in Musikverein. In April 2026, she participated in masterclass with Professor Johannes Moser.

She won auditions for the Mahler Jugendorchester and the Berlin Opera Academy 2026.
