Marcus Wong

Marcus is a fourteen-year-old violinist from New York. He began his musical studies at the age of four with his violin professor Jungwon Yoon at New Jersey Music School and Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division. Marcus is currently a 9th Grader at the Tappan Zee High School. He is also studying at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division Program and selected to earn full scholarships at the MSM since 2023. Marcus was also selected as the Assistant Concertmaster in 2024-2025 and Concertmaster of the Precollege Repertory Orchestra at the Manhattan School of Music in 2025-2026. In 2024, Marcus participated in the 16th Edition of the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition Category II (Belgium) and the 2024 Piccolo Violino Magico International Competition (Italy). Marcus received awards in many competitions including the 2023 Prima Volta Music Competition (First Place Winner), 2023 Camerata Artists International Competition Concerto Division (Third Place Winner), The Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division Symphony String Concerto Competition 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 (Second Prize Winner), 2025 Camerata Artists International Competition Concerto Division (Second Place Winner), 2025 Young Artists International Premiere Competition-Violin Division (Grand Prize Winner), 2025 Charleston International Winter Music Competition (First Prize Winner), 2025 Capital Philharmonic Mary G. Roebling Youth Concerto Competition, VIVO Spring International Music Competition (First Prize Winner) and 2025 NJIO Concerto Competition (First Prize Winner). Marcus has performed the First Place Winner’s Concert at the Carnegie Hall for the Prima Volta Music Competition in 2023. In April 2025, Marcus has performed the First Prize Winner’s Concert for the VIVO International Music Competition at the Kaufman Music Center. In November 2025, Marcus performed with NJIO New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra at the Winner’s Concert in New Jersey. Marcus was selected to attend the 2025 Summerfest at the Kaufman Music Center. This summer, Marcus will be attending the 2026 Pacific Opus Music Festival and 2026 Philadelphia International Music Camp and Festival. Marcus has attended master classes with Shlomo Mintz, Lucie Robert, Grigory Kalinovsky, Ilya Kaler, Paul Kantor and Yvonne Lam.
