Maria Schlumberger-Ruiz

Maria Schlumberger-Ruiz, born in June 2006, began piano lessons at the age of four with Monika Giurgiuman at the Stuttgarter Musikschule. In 2017, she was admitted there to the gifted and pre-college preparatory program and, from 2020 onward, studied with Romuald Noll. In parallel, Maria began studying violin in 2011, and from 2021 onward with Simone Riniker-Maier, likewise in the gifted and pre-college preparatory program at the Stuttgart Music School. In the winter semester 2024/25, she became a pre-college student of Professor Anke Dill at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, where she began a bachelor’s degree in violin in the winter semester 2025/26. At Jugend musiziert, the versatile musician won numerous first prizes at the regional, state, and national levels from 2012 onward in the piano and violin categories. In 2022 and 2025, she received first prize in the violin solo category at the national competition in Oldenburg and Wuppertal; in 2023, she won second prize in the piano solo category at the national competition in Zwickau; and in 2024, she won first prize in the piano and string instrument category with violin at the national competition in Lübeck. Maria also won first prizes in piano at competitions organized by the Deutscher Tonkünstlerverband in 2017, 2020, and 2024. In 2024, she was awarded the Mozart-Preis by the Mozart-Gesellschaft Stuttgart. In the same year, Maria attended the Internationale Sommerakademie Radolfzell as a violinist. Maria received scholarships as a pianist in 2018, 2024, and 2025 from the Dr.-Klaus-Lang-Stiftung, the Helmut-Nanz-Stiftung of the Stuttgart Music School, and the Junges Klavierpodium Werner Haas. In 2019, she was a violin scholarship recipient of the Kulturakademie Stiftung Kinderland Baden-Württemberg. Maria has performed regularly since the age of six at outstanding concerts of the Stuttgart Music School (including Neues Schloss Stuttgart, “Klassik im Méridien,” and the Young Piano Forum Werner Haas), and since 2024 she has performed in a duo with her father Ulrich Schlumberger (accordion). She has appeared as a guest at the Europäisches KulturForum at Schloss Mainau, the Podium Festival Esslingen, and Marler Debut. From 2021 to 2025, she was a member of the Junges Kammerorchester der Stuttgarter Musikschule and the Landesjugendorchester Baden-Württemberg.
