
Michael Tao
Michael started piano with Dr Freni Yu-Ching Cha at the age of seven. He now studies with Prof Konstantin Lapshin at Junior Department of RCM in London. He has performed in masterclasses taught by Prof Philip Jenkins, Prof Vanessa Latarche and Prof John Thwaites. He is currently a music scholar at St Paul's school.
Michael has been Laureates & Prize-winners in various piano competitions both locally and internationally which include the below together with some future engagements:
October 2023, perform with Alina orchestra to play Concerto, invited by Yamaha Music Europe;
40-minute soloist recital to be arranged at Coach House London;
40- minute recital to be arranged by Watford International Festival;
13th May 2023: First prize winner and overall prize winner of Beecham International Piano Competition 2023
30th April 2023: Second Prize Winner of Watford International Piano Competition in age group (16 to 24 years old)
March 2023 First Prize Winner of Coach House piano competition
March 2023 First Prize Winner in Barnes Young Musician of the Year
March 2023 2nd place in age category (17 to 19 years old) in London international Chopin competition for young pianists
February 2023 Finalist of Gordon Turner competition held in Royal College of music junior department
August 2022 participant in Oxford Piano Festival and receive masterclass from Yulia Chaplina, Ingrid Fliter and Stephen Kovacevich
May 2022: First Prize Winner of Regional Final of Rotary Young Musician 2022

March 2019 First prize in solo class Grade 8 and above in Southampton Music Festival
November 2018: First prize in the concerto class West London Piano Forte Festival:
June 2018: First prize in recital class Grade 8 and above in Bournemouth Festival of Music and Drama
April 2018: First prize in international piano competition De Bach Au Jazz in the age group 12 -14, held in Athens, Greece, etc.
His charity experience reinforces his understanding about music – to embrace with the fulfilling feeling of giving back to our community and stay connected with each other.
When he is not practising, he enjoys reading, playing sports, ranging from badminton, tennis and skiing.
