Natalia Mazurek

Natalia Mazurek was born in 2012. She plays the viola and composes music. She started learning to play the violin when she was 6 years old, after that discovered the viola, which has a deeper, warmer sound and gives you the ability to play a music of a different nature. Natalia tried to compose from the beginning of learning to play the violin and viola, because she wanted to create something of her own, personal in music. She is currently a student of Włodzimierz Radin-Rutkowski at Feliks Nowowiejski Complex of National Music Schools in Szczecin. In this short time of learning to play, Natalia has already received many awards for playing the violin and viola in national (including competitions organised by CEA in Warsaw) and international competitions. Natalia participated in courses, master classes, consultations with professors: Katarzyna Budnik, Ewa Guzowska, Bogusława Hubisz - Sielska, Lech Bałaban, Krzysztof Komendarak-Tymendorf, Vladimir Kossjanenko, Philippe Chao (viola) and Magdalena Długosz (composition). Her compositions were also internationally awarded. Natalia tries not to quote other composers and is looking for her own musical language, but being inspired by music that came before is inevitable at this stage. Her favorite composers are Johann Sebastian Bach, Luidwig van Beethoven, Sergiej Rachamninow, Krzysztof Penderecki. When it comes to film music, her favorite composers are Wojciech Kilar and Bernard Herrmann. She explores the order resulting from the choice of sound material. Natalia also has inspirations not related to music, related to nature, especially unique rare species or endangered animals.Natalia is also inspired by Slavic mythology. Natalia composes solo music, including for her own instrument, for larger ensembles, as well as electronic music and a combination of both acoustic and electronic instruments. She performed the piece for viola solo "Południca's Dance" at the Petit Palau del Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona and at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in New York. Moreover, her piece “Mirror Storm” was presented by the Camerata Zurich string orchestra in the final of the composition competition, for which she received second prize. Her piece "Axolotl", which received a platinum award in Grand Maestro International Music Competition, was presented at an online concert. In her free time, Natalia plays concerts for kindergartens. She is also interested in painting, computer graphics, photography and Far Eastern culture. She trains karate (has a brown belt) and likes to take care of animals and in any summer vacation visits Shetland pony farm.
