Neuma String Quartet

Neuma Quartet was established in 2022 and members of the ensemble have graduated with distinction from the Kiejstut and Grażyna Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź and the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.

Since very beginning their passion for chamber music has been setting the paths of their musical development and their previous experience.

The experience that each member of the Neuma Quartet has gained in countless musical projects is shared by creating a harmonious team of friends and (music) enthusiasts.

The quartet consist of experienced musician. First violinist Sławomira Wilga - performing soloist and chamber musician, winner of many awards at huge amount of prestigious international violin and chamber competitions including 1st Prize at the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition in NOSPR in Katowice, recently she has released a CD with Kątski works from the DUX label. Second violinist Michał Nowak - repeatedly awarded as a soloist and chamber musician at prestigious music international competitions, one of the few performers of whole collection of Paganini caprices during one recital, currently the Concertmaster of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra. Nela Zaforemska - violinist and violist, repeatedly fulfilling both as a concertmaster and leader of many string and symphonic orchestras, winner of many awards at chamber competitions, with long-term of chamber and orchestral experience in countless various ensembles. Cellist Agata Nowak - winner of extremely quantity of top prizes at cello and chamber competitions, not only a great soloist, but also a respected chamber musician, regularly invited to many musical projects, concerts and recordings incl. recording with very much appreciated musician Alexander Gebert.

The members of the Neuma Quartet have performed as soloists with numerous orchestras in Poland and abroad, were taking part in many festivals, music projects and concerts in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA in various ensemble configurations. They mastered his solo, chamber and orchestral experience through contact with outstanding artists by active participation in numerous courses with among others Zakhar Bron, Andrej Bielow, Nikita Borisoglebsky, Boris Brovtsyn, Aleksander Gebert, Danjulo Ishizaki, Barnabas Kelemen, Avri Levitan, Bartłomiej Nizioł, Jeroen Reuling, Maxim Rysanov, Dimitr Sitkovietsky, Daniel Stabrawa, Pavel Vernikov and many others. They are holders of many scholarships, incl. “Young Poland” program of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. They have debuted at concerts with the laureate of the last edition of the Chopin competition - Leonora Armellini, with whom had such great opportunity to give jointly the competition’s opening concert at one of the most prestigious chamber competition in Poland - Kiejstut Bacewicz international Chamber Music Competition in Łódź.
