Noah Kim

Noah Kim, 17, is a Scholarship Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a pre-college training program for advanced young musicians.

In 2025, Noah Kim won First Prize at the Charleston International Piano Competition. He also received Second Prize at both the O’Malley Foundation National Concerto Competition (formerly the Walgreens Competition) and the Stanger Competition hosted by the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra. He was a prizewinner at the 2nd International Vienna Classical (WienerKlassik) Piano Competition.

A passionate chamber musician, Noah won the Chicago National Chamber Music Competition and earned Third Prize and the Audience Award at the Glass City Chamber Music Competition as a member of the Third Coast Quintet.

Noah currently studies with Dr. Christopher Guzman of Northwestern University. He began piano at the age of four under the guidance of Dr. Jeannie Yu and later studied with Professor Konrad Maria Engel of the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin during his time in Germany. He has also participated in masterclasses with esteemed pianists Norman Krieger and Wu Han.

Raised in a musical family, Noah is committed to sharing music beyond the concert hall. In 2022, he performed solo and chamber works alongside his parents in support of Ukrainian refugees in Vranov and Michalovce, Slovakia. Most recently, he performed in a fundraising concert in Maryland hosted by the Washington Chamber Orchestra. He is the founder of the Healing Harmonies, an initiative that brings live music to communities through volunteer concerts with fellow musicians.

Noah was selected to attend the prestigious Vivace International Music Festival, where he had masterclasses with Ursula Oppens, Marina Lomazov, and Joseph Rackers.

He is currently a senior at Vernon Hills High School in IL
