ÓSCAR ROMÁN ROQUERO
Óscar Román Roquero (Madrid, 1974) is a Spanish pianist and pedagogue who studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the guidance of M. Voskresensky, N. Trull and D. Bashkirov. Awarded more than fifty international prizes, he has received, among others, first prizes at competitions such as the New York Music Awards, the Bach International Music Competition (United Kingdom), the Beethoven International Music Competition UK, the Hong Kong Victoria International Music Competition, the Colors of Chopin International Piano Competition (Warsaw) and the Saint-Saëns International Music Competition. He has also been recognized at the New York International Music Competition and the Moscow International Music Competition. He has developed an extensive concert career throughout Europe, America, and Asia, performing at international festivals (Madrid, London, Paris, Weimar, Bucharest, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, etc.) and venues such as the Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, St. James’s Church Piccadilly in London, the Association Jean Michelin in Paris and the Hong Kong Space Museum. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras including the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, the Romanian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Camerata of Bucharest, under the baton of conductors such as S. Kulenovic, H. Inoue, M. Lacroix, L. Tsui, A. Lizárraga, D. Svec and A. Duczmal-Mróz, among others. His discography includes eight CDs released by the labels Richter Music, Cosas Serias Producciones, and Veleta Roja Editions (Latin Grammy Awards nominee, 2016). He has recorded for media outlets such as RTVE, RNE (Radio Clásica) and Russia TV (Culture Channel), and has published articles in specialized journals. He also serves as a jury member in international piano competitions. He is currently tenured professor of piano at the Marcos Redondo Professional Conservatory of Music in Ciudad Real (Spain) and has been invited as a guest professor at institutions such as the Helsinki Conservatory, the Katarina Gurska Higher Education Center in Madrid and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
