Pedro Morais Malheiro is a young Portuguese composer and percussionist from Braga, currently studying Percussion with a complementary focus in Composition at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga. His artistic path bridges instrumental performance and musical creation, with a strong interest in contemporary writing, improvisation, and diverse rhythmic languages. He has participated in several music programs and internships, including the Mêda and Ponte de Sor music stages, collaborating with various conductors and ensembles. His performance experience also includes participation in musical theatre productions and the Festival Itinerant de Percussion (FIP). He further enriches his artistic development through masterclasses with renowned performers and composers. Deeply influenced by jazz, Malheiro finds in this genre a space of freedom, color, and creativity that strongly shapes his compositional voice. He focuses on writing for jazz-oriented ensembles while integrating percussive timbral elements into his musical identity. His work seeks to develop a personal language that blends epic orchestration, romantic expressivity, contemporary innovation, and the spontaneity of jazz, aiming to expand aesthetic boundaries and foster collaboration among young musicians.
