Pin-Hao Liao

Pin-Hao Liao is a Taiwanese violist currently pursuing her second year of a master’s degree at The Juilliard School, having completed her undergraduate studies at Taipei National University of the Arts. Pin-Hao has been very active in both orchestral and chamber music performances. She has participated in the Asian Youth Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, and Verbier Festival Orchestra. During her undergraduate years, she won a chamber music competition at school. In addition to performing with orchestras and ensembles, she won a concerto competition in college and performed Bartók's Viola Concerto with the school orchestra. In 2021, she received the Gold Medal in the Young Artist Category at the Singapore Raffles Music Festival. She has attended numerous masterclasses with renowned artists such as the Telegraph Quartet, Szymanowski Quartet, Quatuor Hermès, Kim Kashkashian, Choong-Jin Chang, Victoria Chiang, Che-Yen Chen, Nai-Yuan Hu, and Paul Huang. Additionally, during middle school, she and her friends formed a chamber group to engage in outreach activities at rural elementary schools in Taiwan. In 2024, She won the audition for the Assistant Principal Viola position with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and will begin the appointment in September.
