Pooya Shafi

I am a composer, researcher, and performer of classical music, pursuing my artistic path at the intersection of practical musical experience and philosophical inquiry. I hold a Master’s degree in Art Studies with a specialization in Philosophy of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a focus on Composition from the University of Culture and Art. Additionally, I received a Diploma in Classical Guitar Performance from the Ministry of Culture, which marked the formal beginning of my journey as a performer and my entry into the world of classical music. In my works, I have always been fascinated by creating new sonic spaces and exploring expanded harmonies, where I can craft a more personal and imaginative musical language that bridges tradition and innovation. As a result, my music often moves along the boundary between classical forms and contemporary experimentation. To date, I have composed pieces such as a string quartet, works for modern ensemble, solo pieces for violin, a trio for wind instruments, and a collection of solo piano works. For me, composing is a continuous search: a search for new modes of expression, exploration of timbral colors, and the creation of sonic spaces that engage and invite the listener. My interest in the philosophy of music further deepens the theoretical dimension of my work, allowing me to approach music not only as a listening experience but also as a means of thinking, world-building, and encountering beauty.
