Sebastian Orellana

Sebastián Orellana is a Chilean violinist that began his violin studies at the age of 10. He studied in the Escuela de Difusión Artistica Claudio Arrau Leon Chillan under the tutelage of Carmen Gloria Mella. 5 months after, he became the concertmaster of the orchestra, a position which he held for 8 years. During those years, Sebastian performed in different cities around Chile. Sebastian’s active artistic development gave him recognition in Chile, allowing him to win the municipal award of art in 2014. He was also awarded the Medal of Honor in 2018, by Juan Pablo Garrido, the director of the academy. In 2016 he received a personal scholarship to study privately under Maestro Patricio Cobos in the city of Talca. Studying with Cobos gave him a new approach to playing the violin, and the possibility to have masterclasses with outstanding violinists such as Andrea Obiso and Felix Olschofka. Sebastian has appeared on national television in Chile and Brazil, expanding his international performances. He has also performed in Salvador de Allende, Mexico representing Chile in the first international gathering of youth orchestras. Sebastian is currently pursuing a bachelor degree in music performance at the Lynn Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Maestro Guillermo Figueroa.
