Tzu-Jui Chu

Ray Chu, Cellist (13), Taipei, Taiwan ​Ray Chu was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 2009. He is now 13 years old. He showed a talent and interest in music from an early age. He took up the cello when he was five and a half years old. He continued his music studies throughout his elementary school. Following entrance examinations, he successfully began his studies in the Junior High Division of the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University. In the music department, he currently studies cello under Professor Ling-Yi Ouyang, Master of the New England Conservatory and Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University. ​Ray started entering competitions at the young age of six years old. Since then, he has participated in the Taiwan Music Competition in 2020 and the Taipei Arts Student Competition in 2021 winning first and second prizes respectively. In 2022, he participated in the Japan Classical Music Competition held in Tokyo. Thereafter, he took part in the first round of the International Mozart Competition Vienna in which the jury invited him to participate in the final round with the results of the competition awaited. Participation in these competitions followed on his taking part in the master class with Professor Wen-Sinn Yang offered in Taipei during 2021. In 2022, Ray was chosen to participate in the Cello – Akademie Rutesheim, Germany. This opportunity included master classes with Professor Wen-Sinn Yang.
