Uiin Cheon

Uiin Cheon was born in Changwon, Republic of Korea and was given his first piano lesson at the age of 5. He graduated from Universität der Künste Berlin with Prof. Rainer Becker. After his study in Berlin, he graduated from Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig with Prof. Jacques Ammon. During his study in Leipzig he received Deutschlandstipendium with Elfrun-Gabriel-Stiftung which is given to best talented students. In 2022 he graduated from the Fondazione Accademia "Incontri col Maestro" Imola with Prof. Leonid Margarius for his artistic diplom (Diploma di Alto Perfezionamento). Also he commenced study at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen with Prof. Tomislav Nedelkovic-Baynov for his Konzertexamen which is the highest artistic post-graduate program in Germany.   Mr. Cheon has also been awarded prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including first prize at the “Grand Prize Virtuoso” International Music Competition in London, United Kingdom (2017), first prize at Jacopo Napoli International Piano Awards in Cava de' Tirreni, Italy (2017), first prize at the 3rd "Rising Stars Grand Prix" International Music Competition in Berlin, Germany (2018), first prize at the 1st ICA International Piano Competition in Hanoi, Vietnam (2019), first prize at the Hong Kong Music Talent & Performance Award in Hong Kong (2020), first prize at the “Musikfeuerwerk” International Music Competition in Karlsruhe, Germany (2021), grand prix at the “Paderewski in Memoriam” International Piano Competition in Nowy Sacz, Poland (2021), first prize with special prize at the 3rd International Music Competition in Tryavna, Bulgaria (2021), grand prix at the “Stars at Tenerife” International Music Competition in Tenerife, Spain (2021), and first prize at the International Music Competition in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria (2022), and Gold Prize and Pianist of the Season Award at the International Piano Competition “Ad Libitum” in Warsaw, Poland (2023), etc.   Mr. Cheon performed in numerous music festivals and he was given lessons and piano master classes with Dmitri Alexeev, Dmitri Bashkirov, Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Pascal Devoyon, Pavel Gililov, Bernd Goetzke, Roland Krüger, Claudio Martinez Mehner, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Boris Petrushansky, and Ilja Scheps. He has also taken lessons in chamber music with Artemis Quartet.   Mr. Cheon performed numerous concerts in Asia, Europe and America, including Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, The Elgar Room of Royal Albert Hall in London, Kammermusiksaal of Berliner Philharmonie in Berlin, Kammermusiksaal of Steingräber & Söhne in Bayreuth, Bechstein Centrum in Tübingen, Robert-Schumann-Haus Zwickau. He performed also piano concertos with Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra and with Gabrovo State Chamber Orchestra.

Currently he teaches at the State Music School “City West” in Berlin.
