Suite No. 1. Vicente Álamo Suite No. 1 is a six-movement symphonic work by Vicente Álamo, recorded in the legendary Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra under the direction of Alberto G. López, and featuring Grammy Award-winning contralto Hilary Summers. The recording was engineered and mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer John Barrett, and mastered by Oli Morgan, one of the UK’s most in-demand mastering engineers. Movements Decem Secundis – A dynamic opening movement exploring rhythmic propulsion and layered orchestral textures, setting the tone with both grandeur and urgency. Ego Eram – A reflective, introspective movement built around harmonic tension and delicate orchestration, evoking an intimate emotional landscape. Anima – Ethereal and expansive, this movement develops a sustained lyricism, with the orchestra unfolding in long, expressive arcs. Des Herzens Traum, Adagio – A slow, emotionally charged section, rich in string sonorities, recalling late-romantic harmonic colors while maintaining Álamo’s minimalist clarity. Júbilo – A vibrant, rhythmically driven movement, full of celebratory energy and orchestral brilliance. Hoffnung Entseelt – The concluding movement, juxtaposing hope and desolation, closes the work with deep emotional resonance and a sense of unresolved beauty. Hilary Summers – Contralto Grammy Award-winning contralto Hilary Summers is renowned for her distinctive timbre and expressive range. She has performed with leading ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic, and has appeared in operas, concert works, and soundtracks for acclaimed films. Her collaboration in Suite No. 1 brings a unique vocal presence that bridges classical tradition with contemporary sensibility. Philharmonia Orchestra One of the UK’s most prestigious orchestras, the Philharmonia has collaborated with legendary conductors and composers, and has premiered works by leading figures in contemporary classical music.
