Yangwei Xu

Yangwei Xu is a passionate and accomplished pianist with a strong background in music performance. She is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance with full scholarship under the tutelage of the famous pianist Benjamin Pasternack at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she also holds a Graduate Performance Diploma. Prior to her studies at Peabody, she earned her master's and bachelor's degrees in Piano from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, under the guidance of Prof. Xiang Zou. She also had many master classes to learn from great pianists and professors like Leon Fleisher, Richard Gould, Robert Blocker, John O' Conoi, Ktalin Falvail, Vladimir Feltsman, Li JinXing, Katarzyna Popowa - Zydeon, Li Min, Andrzej Jasinski, Cyprien Katsaris, Dag Achatz, Mikhail Voskresensky, Piotr Paleczny, Andrea Bonatta, Gabriel Chodos. Besides, she has extensive experience as a piano performer, soloist, and in chamber music concerts, and has collaborated with orchestras in many places.

She has won numerous competitions in China and abroad, besides receiving many excellent scholarships from these schools. She was honored with the Peabody Frances M. Wentz Turner Prize in Piano Performance in 2021, winning the First Prize in the Final Competition of the National Youngsters' Art Festival, the First Prize in the Juniors Group at the China "Xinghai Cup" Piano Competition, 3rd Prize for the Professional Group at Shenzhen National Open Competition, the 1st Prize in the Piano Solo Artist Category of the 13th "Luigi Cerritelli" International Music Competition, and the Silver Award in the Piano Solo Artist Category of the 3rd WPTA International Piano Competition.

With her extensive education, performing experiences, and recognition through awards, Yangwei Xu is a dedicated and talented pianist, ready to continue making significant contributions to the music world.
