Yiyi Cao

Switzerland

Yiyi Cao, who only turned six in the summer of 2023, began her musical journey on the piano at the tender age of five in Prof Franziska Lee's class. Despite her young age, Yiyi has achieved remarkable success: at the age of five, she won the prestigious 1st prize with the highest score at the regional Jugend Musiziert 2023 (Germany) competition, where she was the youngest participant to impress. Her exceptional pianistic skills as the youngest participant in the Andreas Kunle Competition (2023) were also recognised with a special prize for "special pianistic achievements". Yiyi demonstrated her musical talent with impressive performances at the Haydn Birthplace in Rohrau and at the opening concert of an international masterclass at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. As part of a series of concerts in Baden-Baden, Karlsruhe and Neckarhausen, Yiyi thrilled the audience with her piano playing in a moving tribute to the 175th anniversary of Schumann's "Album for the Youth".
