Yooeun Kang

Yooeun Kang, 16, is a junior at Westview High School, in Oregon, USA. She started playing piano at the age of 6 and her current teacher is Dr. Julia Hwakyu Lee. Yooeun won first place Tom O’Brian Junior Piano Scholarship Competition in 2021 from the Oregon Music Teachers Association. She also won several gold awards from OMTA festivals including the Trula Whelan Concerto Festival in 2023. She recently performed on the celesta in Portland State University’s production of “The Magic Flute”. She is a Church pianist for Sunday Services. Yooeun wants to bring happiness to her audience through music. She plays with her friends at senior living, church youth band, and the Korean Society of Oregon Youth Dream Team. She hopes to contribute more to her community so that she can play a role in bringing people together through music.
