Youngin Lee, Mezzo-Soprano

Korean mezzo-soprano Youngin Lee began her musical education at the Seoul Arts High School. She continued her studies at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, earning a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance and a Master's degree in Musicology. To further specialize in opera, she pursued a Master’s degree in Opera at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, studying under KS. Dr. Prof. Ewa Wolak. During her time in Berlin, she was a recipient of the prestigious Deutschlandstipendium (2022/23).

Youngin Lee has performed leading roles in operas such as Così fan tutte, L’enfant et les sortilèges, Dido and Aeneas, Hänsel und Gretel, and Le Nozze di Figaro. As an alto soloist, she has appeared in major oratorio performances, including Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor and Pergolesi’s Missa S. Emidio.

Her performances have taken her to venues such as the the Deutsche Oper Berlin Tischlerei, Varaždin National Theatre, Borromäus Saal in Vienna, Roter Salon Vienna, and the Mozarthaus Vienna. She has also been featured at the Varaždin Baroque Evenings, the Vienna Opera Festival, and in concerts in Alkmaar, Amsterdam, and The Hague.

She has collaborated with renowned conductors including Cornelius Meister, Toby Purser, Darijan Ivezic, and Michael Lessky. In the 2023/24 season, she was engaged as First Alto with the Chorus Academy of the Vienna State Opera under the musical direction of Mario Steller.

Her artistic development has been significantly shaped by masterclasses with internationally acclaimed artists such as Thomas Quasthoff, Giancarlo del Monaco, Victoria Loukianetz, Mitsuko Shirai, Janet Williams, and Peter Berne.

Youngin Lee currently resides in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and is active as a concert soloist on the international stage.
